Yielding, Wakeford, & McGee was formed in July of 1975 through the partnership of J.M. Yielding and Mack Wakeford. The firm, originally located at 309 Pine Avenue in Albany, grew from two architects and a part-time secretary to a seven person firm by 1980, when it was relocated to larger quarters at 308 Third Avenue. In 1990, the firm moved to its current location at 116 Roosevelt Avenue, in Heritage Plaza, and renovated a two-story, early twentieth century building which was the original home of the Famous Candy Co., later to become Bob’s Candies.
Since then, the firm has continued to grow, becoming a professional corporation in 1995, with Derrell McGee becoming a partner and stockholder. Kent McClure became a stockholder in 1999. In 2001, J.M. Yielding released his stock holdings; the current stockholders are Mack Wakeford, Derrell McGee, and Kent McClure. Yielding, Wakeford, & McGee has a core of four architects with an average of over 30 years each of experience in project design and management.
